50s overcast. Very wet. Cart path only again. Played the blue tees again. Presently, they have the whites set up so they are on the white or red tee boxes, and the blues set up so they are either on the blue or black tee box. There are no red or black tees in the ground. So, basically, the whites are playing a few hundred yards shorter than advertised and the blues are playing longer than advertised. Add the wetness and the blues are a real challenge for me. But I wanted the challenge today.
Worked on some stuff at the range beforehand and found a few more yards...or what would have been a few more yards had the ball rolled more than a foot or so past where it landed. As a result, was continually hitting long iron, hybrid and 4W 2nd shots. The game is so much harder that way.
Had a couple poor tee shots on par 3s today. On 17th, I barely got the ball past the red tee box I hit it so fat. Probably trying to add some umph to make sure it reached. Unfortunately, all the umph went into the ground behind the ball. That was bad. But, I hit a PW just right of the green from there from a funky downhill lie. Then chipped and hit the pin, but it didn't go in. Was left with about a foot to make bogey. Not bad from my initial position after the tee shot.
Struggled to make GIRs from the long distances and muddy lies. Kept it in play though and gave myself a chance on most holes, in spite of the distance.
CeeBee says:Not bad on a tough day. I give you credit though: if I'd have played from those tees today, I may not have broken 90. The way I'm swinging lately nothing in my bag will go 200 yards.
