Cold, low to mid 40s. Kinda windy. Not a real comfortable day, but at least the sun was out which took some of the edge off.
Played with Chris again (CeeBee) and his regular golf buddy Charlie (Pingbuster on SG360). Teed off on the 10th and started off with bogey on that hole after a weak fade off the tee. Hit 8i just off green right and long, but couldn't save par. I thought it might be another not so great day. Then on par 5 13th, another terrible drive got me in trouble. Hit a tree branch on my second shot and then a weak 4W. Took me 5 freakin shots to finally get to the green. Doubled it. After that, I started to find a little game and put together a run of pars that kept my score in check. Made a good putt on 3rd to save bogey. Then had an atrocious 3rd shot on the par 5 5th. Simple 80 yarder with pin just waiting to be shot at. Should have been an easy SW, but instead, my eyes got too big and I literally skulled it into the deep bunker on right side. Out, chip and 1-putt to save bogey, but it still hurt. 3-jacked 7 and 8 which didn't help either. Then on 9th, had to keep my second shot very low to get under branch. Was in the left, thick rough. Moved the ball back in stance and frankly got only the top of the ball, moving it only about 50 yards. Then hit 5i almost onto fringe. Probably should have used putter, but instead chipped it way too short off a bad lie. 2-putt bogey. So, went bogey, bogey, bogey to end the round. Not pleased.
Enjoyed playing with Chris and Charlie. I have a feeling we will do it more regularly next season. Chris and I went around the back again for another 9 and froze. Looks like no golf for me for at least 4 or 5 days, maybe more.
