Sunny, but cold. 50 degrees. Got my new SM6 wedges today from Ray at Grassy Hill. Decided to try them out there. Had lots of mishits with them. They are very differently weighted. Started to question every shot with one of them in my hands. Probably should have practiced with them for a few days before playing them in a round. After 5 or 6 holes, I just started hitting 3 and 4 wedge shots to get used to them so marked the round as a practice round. I do like them alot, but just need some time. I can still make my old square-grooved SM2s spin more than these. At least it seems that way. I hit the 50 off some tight lies pretty well, yet did not see the stopping power I am used to, but I think once I get more used to them, I will have better results. They feel and look really nice.
The conditions were not that great and as a result, did not play very well. Played from the blues. My swing was okay on the front, but shoulder really started to act up and did not hit driver all that well on back with the exception of drive on 18. Missed the green though from 142. As a matter of fact, missed way too many greens. The new wedges probably played a little roll in that, but my swing was not in sync either. Was terrible with my FWs.
Playing Oxford Greens tomorrow. Hope the shoulder, the driver, and the new wedges cooperate. Might play the old ones to be safe.
