Perfect day. Little wind, Sunny and 72*. They started everyone on the back today. Had a good start with GIR to about 10 feet. Just missed the birdie putt. Then on 11 landed in right fairway bunker again and hit a 50* from the bunker on for GIR, exactly as I did last round. Par.
On 12, hit a great drive with 3W to the very end of the fairway, into the rough. Left me with downhill lie. Caught too much grass behind the ball and came up well short on steep sidehill. Tried a high pitch, but didn't reach the green. Then another pitch to get on and two more to get down for double. So much for the good start. Great drive on 13. Probably best drive of the day. Faded 2nd shot hybrid to nearly unplayable lie alongside last fairway bunker. Ball was at chest height in the adjacent rough while standing in bunker. Only had 80 yards to pin, but only moved it about 40 with poor contact. Bogey.
Hit approach on 14 into right greenside bunker. Made another sandy. Have had a bunch over the last week or so. Really liking the new 58* K grind wedge.
Met up with Ron on 16th and played the remaining 12 holes with him. Greens robbed me of 3 or 4 putts that bounced off line as a result of the aeration still not being healed. Also had too many 3-putts as a result of being uncomfortable with the bumpy greens. Disappointing. Even Ron commented on how well my putts were tracking and then would bounce left or right just before the hole.
Had another chip-in from off the 1st green for bird. 2nd chip in bird this week. Again, really, really liking my new SM6s. Used a 50* for this chip.
Having trouble finding the draw with the driver. Pushed a few right in the process. Hope it's not my shoulder issues that are making it so difficult, but I feel like all my typical draw keys and not working. At least I'm not slicing. Mostly just slight fades.
Hit four or five 6 iron shots today. Every one of them was longer than expected. Made great contact with it all day. But went over green with approach on 16, again on 18, then on 6 off the tee pulled it long and left (but got up and down), on 7, long and left and on 8 off the tee put it on the back of the uphill green, but the pin was down front. 3 putt as a result.
Icing both shoulders now. Didn't hurt too much while playing, but are pretty irritated now.
