85 and sunny. Finally tried to play after 12 days off. Played with Tim and Brian.
Hit the range yesterday and drove the ball well so was hoping for a good round. Unfortunately, I did not seem to have the driver working like I did on the range. Must have hit 20 drives straight or with a nice draw. Today, nada. Slight fades most of the day. I had a great tempo on the range. Just okay today.
Played the first 6 or 7 holes pretty well, but started to get sloppy by the 9th. After 3-putting 8 for bogey, was losing confidence. Came up short of green on approach on 9th. Then 5 yard pitch up steep front didn't quite make it and had to chip to get on. 2 putt double. Putting was bad today. 4 3-putts. No conviction in stroke.
On par 3 15th, hit 8 iron 138 to 6 feet. Missed easy birdie putt. Knew I was gonna miss before I even pulled the trigger. No confidence. Disappointed in overall play today after such a good range and practice session yesterday, but after a 12 day layoff I guess I should not expect to be sharp.
bkuehn1952 says:Good to see you back in the game. 10 GIR should typically translate into a decent score so your diagnosis of putting problems is spot on. Fortunately that is an easier fix than the long game. Easy does it this weekend, no CeeBee-like 54 hole marathons.
