Decided to play the blue tees today. Started off great. Draws and respectable distance on the first 4 holes. Was hitting all clubs except putter fantastic. Then ran into the back of a slow group and everything changed. Got a bit out of sorts waiting and waiting. Finally skipped around them as there was a big open gap ahead of them, but by that point seemed to lose my mojo. Still played pretty well, just not quite as sharp as I was to start.
Hit 2 or 3 really good 5Ws today. Nice draws. Sweet spot contact. Great distance. On 9th, after a not so great 2nd shot from rough with ball well below feet, which sliced well short and right, almost into range, I still had 190 to the pin. Hit 5W again from the rough, dead straight at pin. Bounced once and off the back of the green ending up nearly 15 yards past. Even though I went over, I was still thrilled with the swing and contact from the rough.
Great drives on 1,2,3,4,12,13,14. Good ones on the rest. The few fairways I missed still left me in great shape. Hit irons well too. Needed a couple more putts to drop and would have been a good score from the blues. Missed way too many greens when considering how well I drove the ball and how well I hit my irons. Doesn't add up. A few misses were because I seem to be hitting my irons further. Went off the back of the green at least 3 or 4 times today. Feel like I played better than I scored.
