Put the new 915F in the bag today for the first time. Hit a couple great shots with it. Longer than anticipated. Went over green on 12th, but perfect strike of the ball and beautiful ball flight. The head seems a touch larger than the 910 5W. Not sure if I like that, but I certainly liked the shots I made with it today.
Driver was good again. Trying to swing easy with shorter back swing. Getting much better lag. No real complaints about driver today. Only bad drive was on 16. Pushed it well right into rough on backside of a mogul. Was still 188 from pin with and awkward steep uphill stance and a tree limb in front of me. Hit a fabulous abbreviated 5W, under the limb, to 6ft past the pin. Should have been an easy birdie, but the putt had more break than I expected. Still happy with par after the worst drive of the day (which wasn't terrible).
13th pissed me off. Hit a good drive and a decent 5W which faded a bit into the fairway bunker about 80 yards out. Had a clean lie. Played SW which seemed like it would be perfect for the distance with a little choke down from the sand. Got it fat and only moved the ball about 50 yards. Decent chip, but missed the par saver putt. No one behind me, so I went back to the bunker to try again. Set up the same shot. Used the same 54* SW. Only this time I put it inside 3 feet of the pin and made the putt. Why couldn't I do that the first time?
On par 3 15th, hit a somewhat fattish 7i off the tee, into front bunker. Had about 25 yards to back pin. 58* from bunker to 3 feet to save par. Satisfying sandy.
Overall, some sloppy putts and a few bad short pitches. Could definitely have been better, but driver was pretty good and that is my focus right now.
