Hot. 90s again. Started well. Thought my approach on 1 was perfect, but ended up short in bunker. Up and down/sandy for par. On 2nd, drew 7 iron too much, left of green. Chip to a couple feet. Up and down par. On 3rd, hit a good drive, just left of fairway, with opportunity to make green, but tree on left was slightly blocking it. So, decided to go a little right and took extra club to get over hazard. Hit it well. Was sure it would be long enough to clear the deep grassy wetlands. Got to where I thought it should be, but couldn't find it anywhere. So went back to where it crossed the hazard and pitched a 58* to about 8 feet. Unfortunately, didn't make the bogey saving putt. So, double, but worse than that, finally lost that one NXT tour I had been playing the last 3 or 4 rounds. Got my money's worth out of it, especially since I found it in the first place. Didn't play the next couple holes particularly well, but could have been worse. Bogeys on both. Then got it together and parred the rest of the front nine.
Birdied 11 for the third day in a row. Nearly holed out for eagle with 60-yard approach pitch that almost went in and settled 1 foot away from hole. Parred the tough 12th with a 3W off the tee, then 6 iron approach over the green. Had 7i in hand but wanted to make sure I got there. Should have stuck with 7i. Chip to 1 foot. Another birdie on 14 with 90-yard 54* approach to 4 feet.
Missed the 16th green with a 9i approach pin high, 2 feet left of green, leaving myself short sided. Pin was only about 10 feet in from the left edge. Landed chip exactly where I wanted, but it rolled well past, even so. 2 putt, with first putt stopping 1/2 inch short of dropping. Bogey.
On 158-yard par 3 17th, hit 6 iron to 4 yards past pin, but right on line. 2 putt par. On 18 a decnt drive, a good 5W left me 9i in from lower fairway. Or so I thought. Only had 108 to pin, but played the extra club due to the steep uphill angle. Flew it 10 yards past and off the green. Chip and 2 putt bogey to end another decent round. Back-to-back 79s this weekend.
