Okay, but could have been much better. Triple bogey on 7th hurt the worst. Hit a good 5W off the tee, just right of the fairway, but actually where I was trying to put it. Got an unfortunate lie in the rough. It was sitting way down. Was gonna be hard to get anything but a wedge or short iron on it. I said, "fuck it" and went at it with a hybrid. Only got the top part of the ball and sent it into the deep crap/unplayable and unfindable valley. Stroke and distance penalty. Drop. Hit 4th shot well right of green, behind a huge bush. Had no real clear shot at pin, but flopped one to right of the pin and 2 putted for 7. Ouch. Then on par 5 13th, hit a good drive, decent 5W 2nd shot, which ended up also sitting way down in the rough. Tried to dig it out with a 7i, got it a bit fat and didn't reach the green. 50* chip checked up earlier than I wanted. 2 putt bogey. Not parring enough par 5s lately. On par 5 18th, went right of green for like the 5th time in the last week and did not get up and down. Another disappointing bogey on a par 5 where it started with a pretty good drive.
Overall, hitting all my clubs more consistently than before the lesson. Getting more draw off my irons and extra yards out of all clubs (even driver sometimes). Missing left due to the extra draw, or missing long due to the extra distance, seems to be the theme lately. But I am encouraged by the better overall ball striking. Just have to start aiming a bit more right and trusting the new distance. I'll come up short when I don't get it right, but more often than not, it seems a little short is better than long. Chipping and pitching continues to be my best attribute. Putting could use a little attention again, but it's not bad. Just need to re-focus on putting with a good hour-long practice session. Haven't done one in a month.
