It was good to be home at Worthington after a tough outing at Musket Ridge earlier this week. My confidence was back. Had a great first 14 holes today. Unfortunately three of the final four did not go so well.
Started on the 4th as an outing was finishing up on the first three holes. Really hit the ball well, all around. GIR on first 7 holes with a birdie on 10th, then got up & down for par on 11th (8th hole of the day) and then chipped in on the next, the toughest hole on the back, to save par. Made first bogey of day on par 5 13th after a good drive and approach, but ended in bunker.
Was having a hell of a day. Best ever. After my 2nd bogey on the 16th when I hit an 8i approach 150 yards and over the green (I normally hit my 8i under 140) and nearly got up and down to save par. Then parred the 17th, Came to the par 5 18th at 1 over. Good drive, good 5W second, then hit approach into greenside bunker. Wasn't concerned too much. However, it was a long way to pin. Got way too much ball and flew it over green. Pitch back and 2-putt for double. Then on 1, ended up in greenside bunker again with long way to back pin. Wanting to make sure I did not do the same thing I had just done on 18, wimped out and barely got it out of bunker. Chip and 2-putt for back to back doubles! Son of a bitch! Hit a weak approach on the next hole which resulted in bogey. So the last three holes I went +5. On my final hole, the toughest hole on the course, I got on in regulation which is only the 3rd or 4th time I have ever reached this tricky par 4 in 2. A satisfying par finish for a 78.
