60 degrees, partly sunny, 10+ mph wind.
Fairways were mostly dried out. Greens quick and smooth.
I was hitting the ball well. Into the wind was tough as the fairways were not giving up a lot of roll. Fortunately I played the "White" tees so it was not quite as long as it could be.
The key moment was #14. I pulled my drive into the trees. A single was practicing with multiple balls and waved me up and I likely hurried a bit. At any rate, my ball was just in bounds but sitting down in a sand/dirt rut. I decided I had to try to go out sideways (playing in the direction of the rut) rather than risk trying to dig it out and go through the trees. I essentially hit a sand shot and got it out far enough to allow me to hit towards the green from a fairly marginal lie. I caught my 3-wood perfectly, a wedge to the green and 2-putt saved bogey rather than the mess O.B. or poor shot choices might have given me.
#18 also needs a bit of a narrative. I hit a decent drive up the right side. As soon as I hit it, I said "cart path, cart path". The cart path runs up the right side and I typically try to hit a slight draw up the right side and hit the cart path. Today I succeeded. The drive went about 290 yards and ended up back in the fairway. I hit pitching wedge to about 10-15 feet and rolled the birdie in. Golf is such a simple game. ;)
