Played back nine twice today due to everyone having to start on 10th as a result of frost delay. I guess back thawed out earlier. I teed off at 1:30. Busy out there, but I was at the end of the tee sheet for those planning (hoping to get in) 18. So I played alone. Kept score with first ball, but hit multiple shots on some holes to try different swings or clubs. So, designated this and the next nine as "practice" rounds. Was also concerned about back muscle strain, but actually left shoulder seemed to be my biggest physical pain today. It's not right. Really thinking the old surgical repair has somehow been compromised. Very tender in one particular spot during certain movements.
Had my best drives today when I consciously tried to swing easy, as if my back strain was tender and was trying to protect it. Overall hit the ball well. First drive of the day was not very good. Ended up between the blue and black tee boxes of the 14th hole. Approach shot required going up and over a small tree 30 yards in front of me, and over the entire water hazard to the left of the green coming in from that angle. Landed it 12 feet right of the pin. Par.
On 11, hit a good drive into wind, but pulled a PW accidentally for my approach and hit it well. When it barely cleared the front bunker and fell back in I was surprised, Couldn't believe the wind was that strong. 9i was the right club, and the club I thought I actually hit. When I saw my 9i still sitting in my bag I realized why I was short. For the hell of it, dropped another ball and hit 9i this time to about 15 feet.
Took an unplayable/penalty on 14 after pulling drive into deep crap left of the cart path. Took a drop and hit PW to 10 feet.
After finishing the back, the front was now full from everyone who played the back first, so I went back to 10 since no one was there and played the back a second time.
Iced left shoulder afterward, but it is still really tender during certain movements. Concerned.
