Around 38 degrees, cloudy, a 10 mph breeze. Nice after I walked a couple holes.
Fairways soft. Greens slow but not too bumpy.
At the start I was out numbered by foot golfers. Five middle age men were having a match. I played around them by playing 3-7, 1-2 and then crossed the road to 8 and the rest of the layout.
Did nothing well but kept it in play. Was VERY happy with a sand save on #18. Had a slightly funky lie in the bunker but did a nice job of digging it out. Aim was good, the ball just rolled more than anticipated, leaving me a 10-12 footer. As I got over the ball, I thought to myself, "I really want to make this one. I haven't made a putt over 4 feet today and this would be a good time to change that."
Funny how on occasion we can summon up a positive outcome. I suspect my "hit ratio" on summoning up a positive result is about as good as when I don't put a bit of extra mental effort into the situation. I am going to suspend, for now, the rational part of my brain and tell myself I made the putt because I willed it into the hole. ;)
