Cold wind. 15-25 MPH. Played terribly on front. Was not hitting irons well I think due to left shoulder discomfort with hitting the ground. After awhile I just forced myself and started hitting better irons.
Played much better on the back. Made 15 foot putt for bird on 15, then on 18 hit 58 degree pitch to 4 feet for another bird. Wind on 12th really ruined the back. It was right into the wind. After what felt like a well hit drive that just kept spinning straight up, I still had 225 to the green. Knew I couldn't get there directly into wind, but hit a nice 5W which normally may have reached, but in this wind landed well short and rolled back down the steep incline. Had about a 40 yard pitch, but again, hit it well and the wind just blew it back. Took four just to get on the green. Other than the 12th, played pretty well on the back.
Protecting left shoulder subconsciously. I can tell by the way I am finishing my swings. MRI was inconclusive, but doc says there may be a partial tear somewhere, but the rotator cuff repair seems intact. PT probably next, or cortizone shot.
bkuehn1952 says:Nice back nine, even with the mess on #12. It is hard for me to play for bogey and a lot of my crash & burns are similar to #12. Take care of that shoulder. It is too darn cold and messy to be out playing golf. Take a break until February, even from hitting balls. Doctor's orders!
