Sun came out and wind wasn't as bad as forecast so decided to play. Got up to near 45* with 10 mph wind. Not bad.
Shoulder was a bit tender, but don't think it affected my swing too much today. Had a B+ game today. Lost no balls, again. Been since late October that I have lost a ball. Certainly the dormant conditions have helped that accomplishment, but for the most part, I have pretty good control. Even my bad shots go straight.
Need to spend more time on putting when I'm out there. Rushing. I'm sure if I spent more time analyzing the breaks and speed--which, since there is no one behind me usually, I can spend all the time I want--I'd be making more putts. The winter greens are just not all that enjoyable to play on, even though they aren't in bad shape.
Iron play was good. Chipping good. Pitching decent. No really poor shots with any club today. A few were less than satisfying. Worst was a chip on 12th that didn't reach the green from 12 feet off. Caught the rough and stopped. Made a good chip and one putt from there, but the bad chip annoyed me. I didn't strike it poorly, just misjudged how much I needed to reach the edge of the green. Another double on 12 as a result.
Today was an unexpected bonus, getting in 18. That makes 11 rounds in January this year, albeit many were quite cold, windy rounds. But I'm not complaining.
bkuehn1952 says:I was thinking about making an extremely uncharitable remark. Maybe I will save it in case you play in the next 3 days. ;)
