Decent weather. High 40s. Partly sunny. Wind 5-10.
Played the front really sloppily, but the back very well until the 18th hole when I thinned a 58* over the green on approach. Almost saved it with a nice flop from the other side of the cart path, over the huge mound onto the green and rolled out to about 6 feet, but missed the putt. That and two 3 putts were the only bad results on the back. Made the 12th in regulation (which rarely happens) with a great 3W off the tee and 5 iron approach onto the green, but then misread the speed of the slope down to the hole and left the first putt well short. Ended with a 3 putt bogey.
Hit irons and driver pretty good. A couple poor pitches hurt my round today. Distance was off. Contact was fine with the exception of the bladed 58* on 18 and another on the 8th, leaving me way up high on the hill behind the green. Made a nice flop from there, but there was no way to stop it once it landed on the steeply-sloped green. Two-putt double.
Also, hit a big draw on 9i approach on 2nd, which left me down the hill on the left side of the green. Bladed that pitch back up too, now that I think of it. And had to chip back on with a 2 putt for another double. Pitching just wasn't very good today, actually. Certainly not like normal for me.
On the back I only had the one pitch on 18 and screwed it up. On 16th I had a chip from just behind green after rolling off with approach. Chipped to 1 foot. Only two times I missed the green on the back. The front, unfortunately, was not as clean.
Threw a few clubs on the front, but there was no one around to see it, thankfully.
Seem to have a good handle on driver right now, irons good, chipping very good, putting acceptable on the winter greens, and short pitches okay, but today was a bit of an anomoly. It is winter, so I am not too concerned. I think I'll be ready for Florida in a week and a half. I just hope my left shoulder is.
