Last day before leaving for FL. Near 60 degrees. Partly sunny. Snow forecast overnight. Glad I got it in.
Finally lost a ball. First one since late October. About 35 rounds ago. Had an easy PW in on 10, but slightly shanked it, into the water. Surprise! Wasn't expecting that. Haven't hit a shot that bad in a long time. Splash! No finding that one. It was the same DT TruSoft I have played for the last 8 or 9 rounds in a row. It was due to be changed out. Got my money's worth out of it for sure. Oh well.
Played okay. Drove the ball well again. Hope I can keep it up in Florida. Tough 3rd, got me, though it was more me than the toughness of the hole. Hit approach shot just short of green and had an easy pitch up, but got it fat and just rolled it onto the green. 3 putt from there for double. On the other hand, parred the tougher 12th again with a nice up and down.
Overall, struck the ball pretty well. Had a bunch of bad breaks, in addition to a few screw ups on my part. On 5th hit a good drive into the fairway, alongside the left fairway bunker. There were guys working in it with rakes and a 4 wheeler with a rake on it. When I went to hit, they stopped. I stopped and told them to just keep working and not to stop for me. But, I lost concentration and hit my 5W way right, down the steep incline towards the 6th tee, leaving me a very difficult path to the green. Luckily it only ended in bogey. I actually nearly saved par, but missed the putt by inches.
Had great drives on 1,2,3,4,5,7,9,12,13,14,16 and 18. The drive on 10th went a little right and left me next to a tree. Was worried about catching a branch and that's when I shanked it into the pond. I dropped behind where it entered and pitched it close to save bogey from there.
Iron play was good, but only a B+ today.
