Played with two nice guys, Bob and Neil. Bob just became a member here. He's building a house at Esplanade. Neil has a home over at Tara.
Beautiful day. About 72-73. Light wind. Sunny.
Drove the ball pretty well today after a short range session last night where I was working on a draw flight. Worked well all last night and on the range before today's round. Started off with a perfect baby draw drive down the center, leaving me 2 clubs less into the green than on Tuesday. Unfortunately, did not hit the green. In fact, did not hit irons well all day. Not sure what was wrong, but lost confidence in my iron play which had been really solid until getting to Florida. Continued to hit driver pretty well most of the day, often with that baby draw, but missed a couple, which cut a bit. Not bad though.
Game around the greens was okay, but nowhere near as good as it was around the practice chipping green before the round. I had the starter and the asst. starter watching in amazement and commenting extremely positively, as I was putting every chip into a 3 foot circle around the hole, from every direction and type of lie, sinking chips left and right. It's different when it counts, I guess. I did get up and down a few times with good chips, but only a couple were as good as before the round.
Had a disappointing final hole after a good tee shot. Hit a 4h kind of high on approach to the green and a cross breeze moved it enough right that it missed the green, hit the side slope, bounced hard right and found the water. Penalty, pitch up and 2-putt for double. Parred it on Tuesday with a 185 yard 5W into the wind to the back of the green and a two-putt. Much harder approach than today. Today I double it. That's golf.
Hope my poor iron play this week was due to my discomfort with the turf conditions. Looking forward to getting back on my WM fairways.
Left shoulder was not doing well yesterday, but KT Tape job before today's round seemed to make a difference. Though, surprisingly, it's not throbbing now, I'll ice it anyway.
