Was stuck home with the HVAC guys all day, but finally got free at 4pm. Enough time for a quick nine. Walked the back. It was low 50s and overcast. Perfect weather for a stroll.
Started out awesome. Hit a great drive. Left me 50 yards to pin. Working on a new, shallower move for 40, 50 and 60 yard pitches, so put it into play. Worked well. Bounced funny and rolled off the green, but chipped to a foot to save par. Then on shortened 11th, tried a new strategy. Been hitting 5i which was leaving me a full LW in. Wanted to try the new pitch move so hit hybrid. Left me 20 yards short of the green. 2 putt par.
On the tough par 4 12th, hit a 195 yrd 3W off the tee, then a great 5W from just off the fairway bunker in the fairway, onto the green. 2 putt par. Rare on 12th.
Hit a great draw off the tee on 13 and thought I might be able to close with 3W from the fairway. Missed the sweetspot and flew it into the fairway bunker 80 yards short of the pin. Tough lie. Only got it halfway to the green from there. Pitch and 2-putt bogey. Hit another great drive on 14. Center fairway to 40 yards out. Used 50* to pitch. Should have used 54*. Went well long resulting in 3-putt. Then another 3-putt on 15 after GIR. Bogey on 16 as well after hooking drive well left. Then on 17 made a nice up & down sandy from left bunker. Another great drive on 18, great 3W 2nd shot leaving me 60 yards uphill to the pin. Came up short with 58*. Made a great chip and got up and down for par.
Really felt like I had a good game today and wanted to keep playing, but it was getting dark. Driver is working well. Irons very good. Gotta keep it up. Posting season starts in two weeks.
