Freakin' cold! Should have played yesterday in 70* temps. Instead waited til today. Forecast for 53*, but never got close to it. About 45* and raw!
Played well again, despite the temps. They finally moved the tees back to normal distance. Didn't make much of a difference in my score, if at all.
Started on the back. Could have been a nice back nine, but 12th ate me up again. Approach found the bunker 40 yards out. Only got half way to the green with my shot out. Chip and two putt for double. Only other bad shot on the back was 7i off the tee I fatted half way there into the long stuff. Made a nice pitch out of the crap to about 13 feet, but couldn't save the par. Deserved the bogey after that poor tee shot.
Hit driver off the deck on par 5 18th, and really connected. Had the perfect lie for it and the wind was against me. Beautiful 'stinger' up the hill, left me a lob wedge in. May add that to my repertoire going forward after seeing how well that worked out, using my much shallower driver swing.
Drive on first was one of my best in recent memory. I knew I hit it perfectly when it drew as nice as I can draw one. But, when I got to it and only had 80 yards to the pin I was really surprised. Got to be the best drive I've ever hit there. And it was only 45*!
Drove ball well all day, even with the cold except on 7th and 9th. Let a swing thought creep into my head in my backswing on 7th and popped it up with a bit of a draw too, just over the crap but with no real shot from where it ended up. Should have played an iron from the lie I had, but tried to get greedy with 3W. Dumb. Left myself a tougher shot from a very awkward, very steep uphill lie. Hit a great 7i a mile high to 18 feet. Nearly saved it, but 2-putted for a really good bogey.
On par 5 9th, though I did not think I hit the drive that badly, it ended in the right fairway bunker. However, hit an awesome hybrid out and was able to put it on with a long 6i and get down in two for a finishing par.
Another good round. Been playing well.
