Gorgeous day. Sunny and 80. Light wind. Played with Gene and Joey. We started on the back today.
Driver was not the best today. Had a bit of a high fade all day. Hit lots of fairways, but felt about 10 yards shorter all day. However, hit irons well. Stuffed 7i approach on 10th to 4 feet. Actually hit many approaches close today, but still having lots of trouble putting on these greens with the inconsistency from the aeration holes. Very bouncy.
Made 3 or 4 up & downs to help keep score down. Laid up on 3rd, then stuck a 58 wedge to 4 feet to save par. Hit a great 6i on 7th after a shorter drive, which I thought would be pin high and close. Felt perfect when I hit it. Couldn't see over the hill, but had putter in hand. Got over the hill and to my surprise found it was still 3 yards short of the green. Chipped long by 10 feet and made the only long putt of the day, a downhiller no less, to save again. Hit 5 iron over the green on 8th, but chipped it to 2 feet to save par.
Stuffed another 7i off the tee to 4 feet on 6th and made birdie.
Gene had some nice compliments about my game after the round, despite my average putting today. He too dealt with the inconsistent greens and felt my pain. I hit 10 greens in regulation and had realistic birdie putts on all 10--lengths of under 15 feet--and only made two.
Icing both shoulders today.
