Played with Bernie again. Started on the back. Played blue tees. Okay day. Not hitting my 3W very well all of a sudden. Had a career shot today on tough par 4 12th. Hit 180 yard approach to 1 foot for tap in birdie. Hit it flush, dead straight at the pin.
Birdied 5th also, with a 7 iron approach to 2 feet.
Mullibirdied par 3 6th after rinsing my first into the water due to not enough club in the head on breeze. 188 to pin. Hit 21* hybrid. Penalty and re-tee. Went up a club to 5W and blasted it off the tee to 5 feet. Made the putt for what should have been a birdie if I just chose the correct club in the first place, but alas, had to take bogey. 2nd penalty of the day. 1st one was on a blast out of sand on the 16th, over the green and into the woods. Penalty and drop back in the bunker, then made a good bunker shot and saved double.
Final penalty came on par 5 9th. Hit my 8i approach from a downhill lie in thick rough and caught way too much grass behind the ball, sending it into the hazard, well short of green. Penalty drop then hit 58* wedge from a few yards behind the hazard to about 12 feet. 2 putt for double.
Need to find my fairway wood swing. Lost it all of a sudden. Maybe it's the softer conditions after the heavy rains the past few days, but I am not hitting my fairway woods anywhere near the crispness I was a few weeks back.
Drove the ball mostly okay today. Need some time on the range to find a few missing yards that were there last week. Disappointed in lack of GIRs today. Luckily got up and down a few times to make up for it.
