Played late afternoon. First round in 5 days. Felt like it. Driver not right, irons sloppy, touch of chipping off a bit. Chips were crisp, but distance was often long. Amazing what a 4-day layoff will do to my game.
Started okay with two pars, but never really got in a groove. Par on 5th was not expected after driving into the deep cabbage on left. Hit a great 5W out and then a somewhat thin 7i from a downhill lie, to pin high, on the green. 2 putt par. Played through a twosome on par 3 6th and fatted my 5i off the tee a bit. Was lucky to make it over the water and into the left bunker. Then made a great sand shot to about 4 feet. Unfortunately, rushing while they waited, I pulled the putt and blew the par save.
Overall, I played at about a B- level today.
