Not a great round. Hit some good iron shots, but driver was only so-so. Probably only hit 2 or 3 very good drives. And at least one terrible one, on 16th. Pop up. Hit 5W approach into the right side bunker and took two to get out and two putts to get down. Played with Tom, a regular at WM. He was a pretty big hitter off the tee, but surprisingly I was able to stay with him on a few drives and actually outdrive him on a couple. Didn't help much.
Shot of the day was a 7 iron approach on 7th, after one of my best drives of the day. Tees were all the way back. They were mowing the fairway. Three guys on mowers all rode right up next to me, shut their mowers down and said, okay Doug, show us how it's done. (I knew two of them.) I hit a perfect shot, pin high, that backed up 3 feet behind the ball mark. Great spin action, of which all three of the guys were quite impressed. Unfortunately my putt for birdie came up an inch short.
Not a satisfying day otherwise. Didn't putt all that well either most of the round. A few up and downs but most because of very close chips, not long bombs.
