After a terrible round on Wednesday where I carded a 90, I went to the range to try to work some things out this afternoon. It didn't seem to get any better. However, after I went through a period of hitting a few irons cleanly, followed by a few overcooked drivers, I decided to try playing anyway. Once I got to the course, things seemed to fall into place. Great drives on first 3 holes got me off to a decent start.
Met up with my old buddy Duran on 6th and he played a bunch of holes with me.
Played the back cleanly after 115y PW approach and tap-in birdie on the 9th put me in a good frame of mind and got my confidence back.
A bunch of nice up & downs helped keep the score under control today. Hit driver decent and fairway woods better. Started finding putter on back. 3 putt on 16th, but that was a result of my drive, which I pulled way left, onto the 13th tee box after being knocked down by branches. Had 195 to pin from the rough. Blind shot. Just guessed at pin location. It was much further left than I realized. In any case, ball ended up on wrong side of the green, but at least it was a GIR. Had about a 75 foot lag. Not super disappointed in the 3 putt.
On 18th put 3W 2nd shot into right faiway bunker, 128 yards out. Took an extra club, choked down and picked it clean. Put it on the green 21 feet from the pin. Good birdie putt, but missed by an inch or two. Tap-in par. Nice ending, just the same.
