Played with Bernie, and a twosome we hooked up with, Paul and Rodney. They played the whites, but had the distance to play the blues with us.
Game is a bit sloppy right now. I think shoulders need a break.
Played the 17th poorly after a pretty decent back nine to that point. Hit a 5W off the tee a little right and ended up in front of the green on the ridge. Had an easy pitch and somehow got it real thin, sending it all the way off the back of the green, a foot into the rough. Was sitting down on bare dirt with high rough closely surrounding it. Very poor lie. And poor chip. Only got it a few feet onto the green. Ended in double and an unhappy camper. Worst hole of the day.
Was not very sharp today. Everything was coming up short, even the good shots. Cool, damp weather probably contributed to lack of distance. Bernie was noticing the same thing. So I don't think it was my swing as much as the conditions. However, picking the correct club was more of a challenge than usual. Came up short and right in the bunker on par 3 6th. Didn't hit it perfectly, but should have gotten further. Long bunker shot required over the pot bunker. Unfortunately, it didn't get over the pot bunker. Double bogey.
Great shot on uphill par 3 8th. Playing about 188. Hit 5W into light wind to about 5 feet, but the putt was a slider, of which I slid right by. Par though. Another nice 6i to 7 feet on par 3 15th, but missed that birdie putt too, as the ball seemed to roll right over the edge. In fact, burned a bunch of edges today.
Shoulders sore. Maybe the cool weather is contributing to that fact...or maybe it's just too much golf the last couple weeks.
