Walked the back nine after today's outing was over, going off about 3pm. Purposely decided to use it as a practice round to work on the things that were working so well on the range yesterday. Surprisingly, even in the 2 club wind, I seemed to be blasting right through it with this increased lag I found on the range. Even the colder temps--it was in the low 60s at best--did not seem to affect my iron distances. Hit the ball with authority the whole nine. No real bad shots, or more importantly, no poor weak shots.
Hit a 195 yard 3W dead into the wind on 12th, straight at the pin. Though the wind shortened it a bit, I hit it perfectly straight at the pin and came up 1 foot short of the green. Then on the 13th, hit my 2nd shot with 3W in the wind clean and long. Both 3W shots employed the move I was making on the range last night.
On 17th had 198 to back pin. Hit 5W off the tee, pin high in the back bunker, but was happy with distance. Did not expect it to go that far in the wind so was purposely playing it to come up short. But the swing was in sync and the ball drew slightly, gaining a few extra yards. Had it hit the green, it may have gone over. In any case, had a tough bunker shot. Was satisfied to get on the green and then down in two for bogey.
Felt good about my swing today. It was good to walk. I play better when I walk. No question. Wasn't too tired or sore. I'll be doing it more in the cooler months ahead.
