Nice day, mid 50s, mostly sunny, but a bit windy. 1-2 club wind. Played with Bernie. I started on the 4th hole after teeing off on the first and realizing I was wearing boat shoes. Totally spaced. Tried to hit my second shot but was sliding all over the place. So, I told Bernie to go on without me. There was no way I could play in the boat sneakers, with NO LACES, I had on. I still don't know how I even made it off the driving range, where I hit a quick 5 or 6 shots before teeing off, without realizing I didn't have golf shoes on. Senior moment I guess. So we didn't lose our spot on a busy course, Bernie went forward, with my clubs still on the cart, while I walked back to my truck. I had taken 5 pairs of shoes out of it last night while cleaning it out and never put them back in, which contributed to not remembering to put golf shoes on. I didn't see them, so never thought about them.Stupid. So, had to drive home to get shoes. Was back in a few minutes and had one of the guys drive me out to meet him on the 3rd hole. I started over, beginning on the 4th tee with shoes on and a great drive.
I played pretty well. Continued to hit good drives, outdriving Bernie on nearly every one, but had some bad luck and a few miscues that kept me from a good score. 3-putt on 8th resulted in double. Struggled a bit with the slower greens, now for the 2nd round in a row that they are playing this slow. Was never quite sure about speed. Some were playing much faster than others.
Good ballstriking overall. Scoring could have been a few strokes better. Bernie played well. Only beat him by 3 or 4 strokes.
