Cold, mid 40s, with some breeze. 1-2 clubs.
Played a very clean round today. Drove the ball very well. Irons were sharp. Putting was good, though a 3-putt bogey on 8 hurt. Very tough lag came up 8 feet short. Was never in any trouble the entire round. Hit some near-perfect 3W shots off fairway and some interesting lies in the rough. After over cooking my 3W drive on 12th, teed up another to see if I could fix the hook and hit a perfect baby draw bullet through the end of the fairway, dead center. 220 yds in 45 degree temps. Unfortunately, I had to play my first drive and still, from way left rough, hit another 3W just short of green, 195 yards into the wind. Even so, ended in bogey.
Been hitting my 3W better than ever lately. New tempo has really changed things throughout the bag. May test a stiff shaft in the 915F 3W, before I change to the new 917F2 3W. Getting a touch too much draw with this regular shaft.
I felt like I had everything cooking on all burners today. Wish I could package it. Hit lots of GIRs, stayed in or close to the fairway, and all drives had pop. No birdies, but still shot 77. If only...
Playing and swinging with no effort. Must be the shorter tees. Hopefully the blues will be back in position soon. In the meantime, it's been fun having so many short iron and wedge approach shots.
Posting season starts in a week.
