Sunny, mid-high 40s. 10-12 mph wind.
Continued hitting the ball a lot like yesterday. Very well. Best I have ever played the front nine. Really struck everything well. Parred 1 and 2 with GIRs. On 3rd, layed up, then hit 58 a little wide of target, but on the green, yet still made 25 footer for par. I knew I was on a roll then. On 4th missed the green just a few feet right, then nearly chipped it in. Tap in par. On 5th, great drive and then 3W left me about 10 yards short of green. Chip for eagle got to about 6 feet and made the birdie putt. Parred 6th.
1 under standing on the 7th tee. Don't know what happened, but after hitting driver so well all day yesterday and to this point today, wasn't worried about the pending drive, yet somehow, I snap hooked it, into the hazard/wooded area that runs along the left side of the hole. Hit a very good provisional, but hoped I could find the original. Looked for at least 5 minutes, but no luck, so went to my provisional ready to hit 4. Needed to put it close, but yanked it a touch, pin high, but a yard off the green. Good chip came close to going in, but rolled 4 feet past. 1 putt save for double bogey.
Another GIR par on tough par 3 8th. Came to par 5 9th one over with the intention of doing whatever possible to make birdie. Hit a fantastic drive giving me a chance to go for green in two. Slight downhill lie made it questionable, but I have been hitting my 3W so well, my confidence was up. I went for it. Hit it great, right at the pin, which was front left. It hit on the front steep slope and stopped a couple yards short of the green. Chipped to a few inches for tap in bird and even par on the front. Don't know that I have ever shot even par on the front, the tougher of the two nines.
Played the back nine quite well until I got to 17th, one over par. With a back pin, I purposely played it safe and hit a nice 7i to center of green, about 25 feet short of pin with an uphill putt. Another GIR. (Hit a lot again today.) Greens were slow and I just did not give it enough to get up the hill. Choked. Came up 6 feet short, then missed the next putt with a lip out. 3 putt par.
Now 2 over, stepped to the 18th still pissed about the 3 putt. Lost concentration and pushed my drive, into the very high branches of the big oak. The ball fell straight down. I couldn't see where it landed so hit a provisional, near perfectly, exactly where I wanted it. But I found the first one. It was a long way in from there. Hit a good 3W from the light rough. But still needed another 3W to get home. After so many great 3W shots in the past few rounds, I was confident I'd pull off another. I did not. Topped it. What a disappointment. Had a chance to shoot one of, if not my lowest score ever at Worthington and the pressure got me.
Still feel good about my game right now, particularly with all the injuries I am battling. Between hip issues, upper back knot, neck kink and excessively cracked and painful fingers, I should be happy to break 90.
