Very cold. Much colder than forecast. Mid 30s. Not fun or friendly out there. First round of new posting season, but snow stopped play after 13th, so had to enter ESC score for 14th through 18th. Feel like I could have done better than the ESC scores I had to take.
No one out there due to the weather. Played alone, so can't enter score in GHIN anyway, but considering the conditions and the fact that I haven't played in a week, hit the ball well. Tees were back in position where they were supposed to be. Considered playing the blue tees, but due to the 34-35 degree temps, thought better of it and went off the whites. Drove the ball well on the first. (Actually on most holes.) Played my approach to draw a touch, but it went straight leaving me 3 yards right of green with a tough flop to have a chance. Made a good one, but had no idea of speed since I did not practice putt before the round and came up a few inches short. 2 putt bogey. Never hit any bad shot through the first 5 holes, but only managed one par.
Game started to click in on 7th. Birdie on 9th after 58* wedge approach to 5 feet. Left a slider, but fell in for bird.
Over cooked drive on 10th into left fairway bunker. Then hit a perfect 8i out of the bunker, dead online, to 5 feet. Shot of the day. Made the birdie putt.
Made a bad swing with 58* approach on 11th. Chunked it trying to get an extra 5 yards. Resulted in bogey after an awesome drive in the cold.
Hooked a 3W off the tee on 12th, but hit 3W approach from well left off fairway to nice position. Snow started coming down pretty hard for chiputt to 1 foot and a par save.
Another awesome drive on 13th into the driving snow. 3W 2nd shot got caught in right fairway bunker, but made another nice FW bunker shot, this time with sand wedge, 85 yards, onto green and a 2-putt par.
Thought about going on, but I was really freezing and the snow was actually starting to stick a little to the greens, so bagged it at that point. Tomorrow should be better weather and besides, felt the hernia nerve pain on drive on 13th, so decided to be smart.
