Nice day. Near 70. Sunny, but a bit breezy. Played the blues. Played pretty well, but score didn't reflect quality of my play. A few wrong club choices and one or two bad swings made the score higher than it should have been.
Overall, was happy with game. Driver was good, though Fairways Hit % was a bit low. Iron play good. Need new wedges. Feel I should have gotten up and down at least 3 or 4 more times, and would have with fresher grooves.
Also, two pins, on 9 and 17, were in literally unfair positions. They were a joke. I had a talk with the pro shop and asked them to pass my displeasure onto the superintendent. You don't put pins on ridges where stopping the ball close on a putt is impossible unless it goes in the hole. That's either inexperience on the part of the pin setter, or just plain old mini-golf putt-putt mentality. Far beneath that of a quality course like ours. Stupid.
The AJGA will be here this weekend for a big regional tournament with some of the best young juniors in the country. I suggested that the super send whomever set today's pins out with the pinsetter for the AJGA to learn a little something about what is fair, but difficult, and what is bush league/gimmicky bullshit. Today's were bush league/gimmicky bull. Unacceptable. I was livid and now the whole management knows. I was not at all shy about voicing my displeasure. When you are known as one of the top courses in the state, setting pins as they were on those two holes today just makes you look like you don't deserve that lofty acknowledgement.
