Played with Bernie and Mark. Mark wanted to play whites, so I agreed. Shoulders not feeling great anyway. Made some mistakes playing from the whites. Didn't play poorly, but short game is not as sharp as it had been most of season. Made a few really nice flops though. And a great pitch over bunker from hardpan right of 13th. Unfortunately, couldn't keep it on the green, leaving me a tough chip from a deep lie in rough just off the green. Same chip on 18th cost me as well. Both should have been close enough to save par, but both ended in bogey.
Penalty on 4th after 8i approach seemed to land just left of green. Kind of blind, but pretty sure it was safe. Nowhere to be found. Had to have bounced funny, into lateral. So dropped, hit a flop to 2 feet and 1-putted for bogey. Got back in the cart and found the ball a foot or two into the deep thick hazard. Didn't count, but played it, just to see what should have been. Whacked it out and it got about 2 yards out, across the cart path and to about where I had flopped from a minute ago. Flopped again to about 4 feet and made that putt too. Either way, a bogey.
Nice sand save par on 6th from front pot bunker to under 2 feet. Another up and down from well short of green, halfway down steep run-up to 8th green. Tee shot was a touch fat. Then pitchipped from there to about 6 feet and made the sliding putt dead center.
Shot of the day was from right fairway bunker on 10th, to 6 feet with 7i. Lipped the birdie putt. Good par.
Dumped approach into hazard on 12th, which ended in double with the penalty. Hit my hybrid fat. Had about 190 to green. It went about 90. Only shot of the round that was really poor.
Another up and down on 14th after picking wrong club on approach. Had 122 from fairway to pin. Should have pulled wedge. There was a little wind in the face. Pulled 9 instead. Flew the green. Good chip to short distance to save par.
Too much club on par 3 15th too. Should have hit 8i, but went with weak 7i (AP2) to be sure to clear bunker. Off back of green a few feet. Touchy uphill chip to short-sided pin. Yipped a bit and barely got it onto green. Bogey.
Not a great day from the whites. Driver was okay, but feel like my distance isn't great. Either shoulders are limiting me or I am missing something. Hit a few good ones, but most were just okay, some with slight leaks.
Need some help from one of the club pros soon.
