Hit the ball well overall but missed too many greens. Course continues to play long. Scrambled a lot as a result.
The main rough, further off fairway, has not been cut in a week or more. Alongside the fairway it has been mowed, but only a couple passes on each side. Anything more than 4 or 5 yards off the fairway is extremely difficult to extricate cleanly. Got me on par 5 5th and par 5 13th. The first one was supposed to be a 7i approach from 140 uphill. It ended up barely 50 yards forward. Surprised me because, though the lie was in deep, I felt I could get it out with an iron. All I got was a lot of grass. On the other one on 13, it was my 2nd shot. Though the rough wasn't super deep, it was probably too deep to attempt a 3W. Club head super-slowed through rough. I knew it before I swung, but was trying to be greedy. Paid the price.
Highlight of the round: 8 iron approach on 2nd to 10 inches for another almost eagle. Probably my 25th this year. Settled for tap-in birdie.
Mid-back pretty sore by the turn.
