1 Lorette Dr
Kananaskis, AB T0L 2H0, Canada

This well-regarded 36-hole facility is located amongst a boreal forest in the picturesque foothills of the Canadian Rockies, west of Calgary. But the devastating floods of June, 2013 essentially destroyed both the Mount Kidd and Mount Lorette courses. The club announced in January of 2015 that architect Gary Browning will oversee the environmentally conscious reconstruction and restoration of both courses, which were originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr.

The course's toll-free telephone is 877.591.2525, while their mailing address is:
PO Box 1710
Kananaskis Village AB T0L 2H0
CANADA

Course did not winter well in 2011 / 2012 as fairways and some greens are terrible. For the first time, in recent memory they have allowed carts on fairways and this speeds up play and increases enjoyment at the course.

Stunning!

A gem less than an hour west of Calgary. Plan for all 4 seasons when you play, as the weather in Calgary is not necessarily the weather at the course. Mt. Lorette features water and Mt. Kidd features sand. With the number of "rounds" played each year on the 2 courses, they do enforce a "pace of play" to ensure you don't have a 6 hr round. For an Alberta resident, there is no better deal available with the scenery provided. A must for me each year.

Best value golf in Alberta, if not Canada. Conditioning can be somewhat challenging due to climate and amount of play the courses receive. Scenery is spectacular. Be prepared for any weather. You can get all four seasons in one nine.

No doubt, one of the prettiest places to play in Alberta. The pace can be a challenge because it is a well-utilized course. The day we played there were six tournaments happening on the two courses. We did experience some minor problems with the bag drop off/valet parking when all the attendants were essentially doing the same tasks. It would work better if individual attendants were assigned to individual tasks for the day; i.e., loading/unloading, parking and retrieving vehicles, bag collection and drop off. We had to go searching for our clubs when they were not taken off the cart and moved to the pickup/dropoff area at the end of the day. Argued with one of the attendants who wondered how someone else had signed for our cart at the beginning of the day (damned if I know; one attendant took our slip when we were preparing for the day, another had it when we returned from changing shoes and clothes; he wanted me to tell him how he got it).

Greens had some bare/sparse area's - likely due to the terrible spring, not much growing weather. They were not bumpy at all. Sand is fluffy silica type sand, it is different to play out of it, and takes some getting used to. Scenery is spectacular, courses have (generally) very wide fairways and large greens. Service is excellent. The cancellation policy is crazy 4 days notice, and they NEVER close the course no matter how inclement the weather is, so you will be playing in all kinds of weather or forfeit your green fee - in full. In spite of that it is very worthwhile playing both courses.

Spectacular mountain scenery !

A beauty and the best deal in the Rockies hands down. When you hit a bad shot and are mad just look at the scenery and the shot is forgotten. Either golf course is a hit and in my opinion Mt Lorette is a shot more difficult. Robert Trent Jones best.
