Whisper Lake Country Club

Whisper Lake. It's only a par 64, but it's a challenging, picturesque and rewarding par 64. The greens are, shall we say, immaculate.

The fairways are … hmmm, incredible. And the fact that you can leave the driver in the bag is, shall we say, a pleasant change of pace. The catch phrase for golf is, “drive for show, putt for dough.” Well, at Whisper Lake the show opens with a solid iron off of most tees. And if you can putt confidently, you will walk away with the dough (sailor's bets, of course). Sure, the long hitters can drive a par 4 or two, but it's the smart golfer who can pick and hit his landing area carefully and will drive off with the low round of your foursome. Played in early March and the course was very wet from recent rains. The fairways were in good shape but the bunkers were impossible to tell given that most were filled with water. The greens were very rough because of the time of year so it's hard to say.

Most of the holes either are a long Par 3 or feels like one. I personally don't dislike it but it isn't for everyone.

At best this expensive executive course has just a few holes worth the experience. I was disappointed. If you like playing shot par 4's and par 3's this is your course. A typical Randy Watkins over priced course. 50.00 bucks really?? Nope. Greens were in good condition.
