Okay. One of my golf goals has been achieved. I've always wanted to shoot at least even par at Lincoln Park, and I did 2 better today.
Played with a guy named George. We got paired up at the first tee. Starter wanted us to go off the back nine first. First time doing that at Lincoln. Maybe that's the secret to a good score here.
George wanted to quit after 9 holes cause he was playing very poorly, but he told me he wanted to see me break par so he kept playing. :)
Hit the ball great today. Putted well and made all my key putts except on hole 10 (missed a 5 footer for par)
Highlights / Lowlights:
Hole 10: Pin way back. Putted from the fringe and left it short. Missed the 5 foot par.
Hole 12: Hit this green that plays 230 up the hill. Achievement! 2 putt par feels good!
Hole 13: Great drive. Pulled my approach and it bounded way past the green. Awesome pitch to 5 feet, but lipped the birdie putt. F!
Hole 14: 6 footer for the bird...missed.
Hole 15: 2 sweet shots and made the 12 footer for the bird.
Hole 16: Awesome pitch for the par save.
Hole 17: Laid up on the par 3. Yeah, first time strategy, but I chipped up and made par. Guarded against the OB 6!
Hole 1: Stuffed my approach and made the bird.
Hole 3: Pin was way back long left. I played middle green and hoped for a draw. Draw happened and had a 12 footer for the rare hole 3 birdie. Yeah mon!
Hole 4: So close to back to back birds...burned the edge.
Hole 5: 3 perfect shots. Made the 6 foot bird.
Hole 6: Less than perfect approach, but a grass width from making back to back birds.
Hole 7: My biggest regret...after a solid tee shot, I had a green light special to a middle back pin. I pulled back my sand wedge, but it caught up hard on the back swing. Instead of stopping and restarting, I continued with my forward swing with a crazy shut face. Fatted my shot and proceeded to make bogey. F! I was 3 under at this point with 1 1/2 holes left, and I f'd up badly. Really really poor decision.
Hole 8: Hit the green and made par for a nice 2 under round.
Good day!
