Given the winter that we have had with all the rain inundating courses in the area Malkins Bank was playing very well. There were a few places marked as GUR on and around a couple of fairways where the course was bare or boggy, but generally it was fine and there was plenty of run on the fairways.
The greens had recently had maintenance and were a little slow and some bobbled but another week or so should see that sorted.
The clubhouse was friendly, the food good and the prices very reasonable indeed.
Of the two nines, I preferred the back nine as it had more variety but the front was fine.
There are signs all around the place that a lot of time and effort is being put in to make the course even better since it has been tken over from the council.
It is also the home of the Ian Woosnam Golf Academy. (sort of says it all really.)
