Marine Park is still undergoing construction, and the changes are evident. Greens continue to be in great shape. Fairways are in nicely as well. Hats off to the management there! 7/10/13

Has anyone been to Dyker lately? Greens are chewed up, trees still on course, #6 hole has a huge lake in the fairway. 4th hole is now a 70 yd par 3, and hole 5 has been shortened. Marine Park aerated last week, yet greens are in good shape. No trees are down there was one on #12, but it's been cut up already, and out of the way. Course continues to improve. The Heroes to Heroes Foundation (www.heroestoheroes.org) held an outing there on August 10th...a big success! 9/5/11

While Marine Park continues to improve, American Golf and the courses they manage (Dyker, South Shore, LaTourette) keep up the same bad behavior. Teeing off in the dark, and cutting the greens while golfers are on the course. We had the greenskeeper with us for the first 4 holes today. Aside from waiting in the fairways for these guys to move out of the way, you have to putt with the sound of the mower just off the green, as he waits for you to putt out. AT Marine Park, you don't tee-off till the sun is up, and the course is ready to go. 6/25/11

Same old crap at American Golf courses (Dyker Beach). First tee-time was 4:45 this past weekend. Of course that's 3 groups teeing off (on 1, 2, and 3-what they call a "rabbit start"). They are also proud of the "glow-ball"...they give you a ball that lights up and send you into the darkness. We had a 5:20 tee-time, and already had about 6 groups in front of us. Also, they were cutting the fairways while we were playing. Are they kiding? On a Saturday morning? the greed at American Golf is unbelievable. 5/30/11

More improvements at Marine Park. They are really doing a nice job there. Look for some new tee-boxes on 4 and 18. There are also two new sand traps on 1. They continue to pour money into this course. It gets better every week! 5/30/11

Looks like the season has begun. Marine Park is looking good, thus far, with many changes and improvements planned. Course (greens, fairways, & rough) recently aerated. Looking forward to another great year! Nick 4/10/11

Colts Neck GC is in great shape. Nice course, though not that long (just over 6,200 from back tees). Semi-private, so no a.m. tee-times. Worth the trip for a weekday round of golf. Not a walker friendly course. 9/1/10

Played Trump National today. Good front, but the back kicked my ass!. The course is pretty tricked-up, with no room for error. I've been there a few times before, but today was my best experience, as we walked as a two-some, and the course was pretty empty. My other times there were for outings. Much more enjoyable today. Thanks Greg! 8/26/10

LaTourette is in good shape, except for the 3rd green. Take your 2 putt and move on, as there is hardly any grass there. 8/18/10

Played South Shore yesterday. Greems were in terrible shape. Just an FYI. Marine Park continues to inprove. Greens are in great shape,as usual. NAD 8/1/10

My mistake...it's $144 an hr that they would lose ($16 a foursome X 9 tee-times each hr). Now we are talking big bucks! 7/17/10
Dastick says:
BTW, if you tee-off more than 30 minutes after your tee time, make sure you go to the pro shop and get your reservation fee back. It is on the American Golf webite, and that's the only thing that will make them address this issue. At $36 per hr, that will eat into their profits. Has anyone else had problems at Dyker? 7/17/10
Dastick says:
Well, I think we made some progress at Dyker. I met with the new manager a few weeks ago (Larry Moran), and discussed some of my issues. The first is the fact that American Golf does not always post on their web-site the fact that you may have a "rabbit start". They now call all rabbits to confirm the fact that they will not be playing a full 18 holes. My other issue was the fact that they make you tee off in the dark (today we had a 5:15v tee-time, though sunrise was 5:39). I don't know about you, but I can't follow my tee shot in the dark. Their resolution was a clever one. Larry stated that they will be gining the first group of so "Tracer Balls"...balls that light up in the dark www.twilighttracer.com/index.htm This should help a bit. Still waiting for a resolution to the slow play out there. Being a hole and a half to two holes behind the group in front is unaccetable, and they need to fix that! 7/17/10

I've never played Marine Park. I'm looking to get on this year. I'm sure you have to get an early tee time or else you'll be out there for 6 hrs. 6/17/10

Just played Marine park on Sunday should of left my driver home. The course itself I found to be in great shape and they just opened a bar so you can get a drink afterwards. Overall experience was good just wish I could get my driver under control. 6/15/10

I thought I'd start this group to discuss general issues regarding playing golf at the local/publis courses in Brooklyn and Staten Island. A great example would be the fact that American Golf Corp. begins making T-times 30 minutes prior to sunrise, puts "rabbits' on two and three, and floods the back-nine. Of course they'll be running behind from the get-go. I'd also like to hear about yur experiences with the SGX, which I just bought and am ready to return. Nick 5/22/10
