Just reading the comments about putting stats..I am firmly in the 'recording putts on the green' camp ;-) 10/7/10

Hi all nice to see a Mizuno group :) Like floggersmith I live up in Suffolk although I'm not a native of these parts. I am a member of Ufford Park GC (and Mens Handicap Secretary for my sins)MP-60's in my bag - luv em! 10/7/10

any of you guys use driving ranges? now the nights have drawn in and opportunities for midweek golf have gone, we have started visiting the range in bury st edmunds on a thur pm, to maintain some flexibility in my swing. they use good quality srixon balls and have a nice setup, auto ball loaders, 2 thicknesses of mat and large mirrors on rear wall. 10/3/10

Hi m8 & welcome to the group, i live in suffolk by the way. below is instructions i got from manual for ur model ; 3.2 Determining Shot Distance Simply press the Mark button at the location where you are going to take your shot. The “Mark New Ball Location?” screen will display (Fig. 23). Select “Mark” (Left Soft Key) to record your current location and then take your shot. When you get to the location where your ball came to rest, press the Mark button again to record and display the distance (Fig. 24). You may return to your previous screen by selecting “Exit” or choose “Mark” to mark the distance for another shot. The mark button is the 1 that looks lie a tee peg just below the joystick 8/30/10

Floggerman, do you write down the distance of your drives and add them manually or is there a way to add that with the sky caddie, I have a sg4 and am not aware of how you do that. Thanks..oh byw I think I live just south of you a bit! 8/27/10

i looked on the website chotwar and it states the following in the guide for the sgx......... Determining Shot Distance Using Mark Ball Simply press the Mark Ball button at the location where you are going to take your shot. The “Mark New Ball Location?” screen will display. Select “Mark” by pressing the Right Key to record your current location and then take your shot. When you get to the location where your ball came to rest, press the Mark Ball button again to record and display the distance. You may return to your previous screen by selecting “Exit” or choose “Mark” to mark the distance for another shot. the mark ball button is the one on the bottom left of ur sgx, hope this helps.. It certainly is useful in many ways, defo shuting up the guys in the clubhouse who regularly can be heard..........." must have gone 320 down the 6th today", the look on there faces when they play with me & i show em the "real distance" lol 8/4/10
mal_smIth says:
thx for the comments Chotwar, ur not looking too shabby urself looking @ some of ur scores, i am not familiar with the "sgx" but would imagine measuring driving distance would be very similar to the sg 3.5 that i have. looking on some forums it would appear that the sgx is still being beta tested as there are several probs reported with user interface and missing scores etc. hopefully updateing will cure these probs. 8/4/10

phew, just got email notification from "howdidido.com" saying my h/cap was down to 6 (5.5)which i have played to b4 but 5 might have been tough still, time will tell 8/2/10
Chotwar says:
Hi floger, another gr8 score. I came down to 5.4 on Thursday after my net 69 but back up to 5.5 on Sat. but my skycaddie seems to have lost that score! It should keep about 10 scores in memory, I thought. I notice on your scorecard it shows a driving distance for some holes. Is that recorded somehow on your skycaddie of do you enter them manually? I've only had the skycaddie a few weeks. Probably not using all its facilities. 8/2/10
mal_smIth says:
oh no, got caught by the handicap secretary this morning who was suggesting i can expect a serious cut, probobly down to 5.0 from 7.7 after my recent good scoring 8/1/10
mal_smIth says:
i agree with jd84's comment that he only counts putts actually on the green, obviously affecting GIR but i'm a putt stat guy , the lower the better ;-) 7/30/10
mal_smIth says:
Hi m8, welcome to the group, i c you play @ Stanton on the wolds, my head office is on the 606 just down the hill from the small garage. part of your course looks like it backs onto the gardens on the main road ;-). wheyfeed is the company name & i drive 1 of their trux from newmarket depot. Yeah that was a qwik round, their was 3 of us, all SF golfers , it was a balmy windless nite, greens were receptive as the GK is getting ready 4 captains day this WE. no-1 else on the course so we flew round, the way golf shd be?????????????? i wish lol 7/30/10
Chotwar says:
Hi Flogger' - gr8 score and round in under 3 hours. I'm also one who putts from 10/20 yds off the green but only count it as a putt if it is within a yard or so - remember a bad putt is always better than a bad chip!! 7/30/10
mal_smIth says:
hi m8, i think your right when you say actual putts on the green should count as its something i work hard on to lower my h/cap. i play with a guy who regularly putts from 10 - 20 yds of the green but still counts all of his putts towards his putting stats 7/24/10
JD84 says:
LOL. As you said, count only puts on the green...not sure whether this is as it should be...I thought its rather putting on the green which counts...other puts are more like a chip 7/22/10
mal_smIth says:
Hi guys, thought i would try & spark some conversation by asking, if you are on the the fringe and you use a putter, do you....A, count it in your putting stats or, as in my case, B.........just count the # of putts actually taken on the green ??? Obviously this would affect bot gir and total putts stats. I personally think that i would prefer a better puttinf stat as opposed to gir......any thoughts 7/20/10
mal_smIth says:
Hi guys, just joined the group having been "buttered up" for several years now, currently with mp 52's. I am a leftie by the way currently playing of 8 (7.6) 7/12/10

I tried hitting some titlist on the weekend...but they felt "wrong" compared to hitting a sweet shot with the Mizunos. 6/28/10
